ouroboros: REHEARSAL of the act i

Let’s talk about Ouroboros from different perspectives. As theoretical sources say, Ouroboros typically represents cyclicality, renewal, unity of all things. In psychology it represents the pre-conscious state. For K. Jung - it’s inner child before the ego is formed. It’s total potential where is no “I” or “You”, only the loop. I question myself, if my Ouroboros sculptural work can be considered as a neurological feedback loop - the mind consuming, exploring, creating itself from its own experiences (weight of self). But the mind who wants to grow or transform, should break from the closed system of prima materia nigra, despite the tensions… My Ouroboros is like alchemical homunculus, creating itself, but in contemporary neuroscience we find the Cortical Homunculus - a map of how our brain feels the body depending on sensory experiences, not on actual looks. So, we can create self-distortions… All the above is not a literal analysis or explanation of my “Ouroboros - the Weight of Self Creation” work, but rather just some “food for thoughts”.

Genesis of Ouroboros. The matter (clay) has stabilized, no more resisting. The feedback loop is closed. The Homunculus has begun to breath… At this stage clay is still dump, heavy, the grain of the earth is still visible, yet it has found its equilibrium and is ready for the next stages of becoming.
