Whispers from the Undergrowth: Surreal Forest Spirit Kettle Interior Sculpture

“Whispers from the Undergrowth” is a sculptural exploration of the hidden life and hidden knowledge found beneath the forest floor. While it takes the form of a kettle - it is really a piece of “functional surrealism”. The artifact features a highly textured, organic surface reminiscent of lichen and moss, and bright red floral bloom on the top, a symbol of hidden knowledge safeguarded by nature. This is a one-of-a-kind work with a removable lid, allowing it to function as a container or a unique floral vessel. This work will not be replicated.

Medium and techniques: Hand-sculpted and coiled ceramics, high-fired in oxidation atmosphere to Cone 10 for maximum durability and vitrification. Stone clay, engobes, glazes, overglazes.

Feature: Removable lid; fully vitrified interior.

Dimensions: H30 x W35 x L24 cm. Mass about 3 kg.

Authentication: Signed by the Artist; include a physical Certificate of Authenticity.

Care Instructions

Utility: this piece is technically water-safe due to its high-fire vitrification. However, to protect the longevity of the exterior decorativeness and ensure ease of cleaning, we recommend using a small glass insert if displaying fresh flowers with water.

Non-Traditional Note: this artifact is a sculptural concept and is not intended for boiling water, stovetop use, or food service.

Cleaning: to preserve the “biological” texture, use a soft bristled brush or compressed air to gently remove dust. Avoid abrasive chemicals.

Handling: always support sculpture from the base. Avoid lifting by spout. handle or the floral lid detail to ensure the structural integrity remains intact over time

Environment: best displayed in interior settings away from the direct sunlight
