LETTING GO: CORALIA AND OUROBOROS

In May, two of my explorations of matter and transformation - Coralia and Ouroboros - found new homes during Ceramics Ireland Clay Works exhibition in the National Botanical Gardens, Dublin.

Though it happens not for the first time for me, it is still a kind of magic in releasing your piece into world…. You spend weeks or entire months building, sculpting, thinking and waiting, stressing about unpredictable situations while drying and firing your pieces. For months, your sculptures sit on the workbench as living studies mirroring your thoughts, questions and emotions, and then it is no longer yours…

But the feeling, that someone chose to bring them into their own private space is a profound experience as well. It reminds me, that the “theatre.of matter” doesn’t ends when the clay cools, on the contrary - the performance just starts, and the real metamorphosis happens exactly in the space between the piece and the person seeing it. Selling these two works feels like a closing a chapter in the “Laboratory”. They have fulfilled their purpose in my hand and mind, and their departure clears space - both physical and psychological - for new experiments, forms and stories.
